My 66 has a Harwood 4" cowl hood with factory hinges and lightweight springs. I have noticed in the last couple of months that the drivers side of the hood sticks up about a 1/2" back at the hinge. It's not warped or anything. When I push down back there at the hinge it goes down but pops back up. I switched springs from one side to another and it didn't make a difference or cause the passengers side to do it so it doesn't seem to be a spring issue.

Do the hinges cause this if they wear out somehow?

readjust the drivers side so it sits flush when closing without pressing on it. the hinge might of moved. I think front up, back down will on the hinge will cure this.

That looks nice considering I always have to put a pin in through the hinge to keep it from suddenly closing on my head.

I didn't know that there was adjustment in the hinges. I am guessing you are talking about losening the 2 bolts that hold it to the fender?
