HELP! Kickdown rod or cable?!?!?

I've got a powerglide and my kickdown linkage is M.I.A. I checked with chevy2only and they offer all the mechanical rods and then offer a cable kickdown option for the powerglide. Which one would be easier to use? I'm trying to do all the work myself. The car has a 327 with aftermarket intake and edelbrock 4bl carb. Without the linkage, the transmission shifts around 10 mph. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.
