I was wrapped around the parking brake cable underneath the car. It runs to the box pictured, but it wasn’t hooked up to anything under the car. Just wrapped around the parking brake cable under the car. (The thick long black wire)

That is something that needs to be removed. The two flat blade screws on the box, which is your horn relay/key buzzer, also acts as a connection point for things like to the battery, to the voltage regulator, and to the fuse block/interior of the car. The two screws thread into what they call a buss and someone added this wire that goes no where and is serving to use so get rid of it.

Thanks for your reply! I took it off. Another mystery wire. A pink wire from the back of the alternator going towards the battery area?

That pink wire sure looks like the fusible link in between your battery and the alternator. When you're at the point in time for a new wiring harness for the nova, visit Lectric Limited. They manufacture factory correct harnesses in house for your Nova. Good luck with your '70

If that pink wire is attached to the back of the alternator, that is the main charge wire for the battery. Definitely needs to be hooked up.

Depending on what type of electrical draws you have in the vehicle, and the size of the alternator, you might want to consider using a heavier gage wire.
