Hello everyone, Scott here, I just stumbled upon this site, so I have not had a lot of time to search it. I got my first Nova when I was 16, kinda a piece of crap to start, but solid. 1969 Chevy II. Started with a small block 305, moved up to a 350, then finally a 402. Had it till I built my house in 2000. Sold it to pay for the heating and plumbing systems. It was one of those things, get married knowing full well if I sell the car, I’d never get another one.
So let’s fast forward 19 years, divorced, sold house, change career and girlfriends a few times. Finally get a place to house all the toys I wanted when I was younger. Kids moved out, then in again. Well now it’s time for another Nova.
So, the new recruit is a 1970 carcass, solid I might add. Just need to finish up the body and chassis paint. This time around, I’m starting with a big block and 4 speed. The details are still in the planning stage, but something around 500 hp.
Now, where I need some help is in selecting a good, used 4 speed. I’m thinking of a Borg Warner Super T-10. I have not bought a used 4 speed before and would like some pointers on what to look for. Ie, how to tell if it’s a basket case or could just use a good cleaning and maybe some freshening up.
Sorry, no pics yet, but I will try to get some soon.
