My pops at the age of 90 stills goes south and brings relics back.
Very cool site here!!!
I am in search of someone that can I.D.
A set of hubcaps for me
so please just tell me where best to post a pic of these ss hubcaps. I've had them in a box for decades.about 40+yrs. Ago .
I did know what they are from but I didn't label them back then and really wish I would have. I do recall a hubcap dude telling me they are super rare...and I think I recall he stated they are off of a 63' chevy2???
Any help would be greatly appreciated on I.d. these hubcaps. Thanks for such a great site!!!

Welcome to the site. Canada is a big country. Where are you located?

Below is a picture of a 1963 Chevy II Nova SS hubcap. Do yours look like this? Not particularly rare as they were also used on the '64 Nova SS and the
1963 Impala SS. The 1965 Nova SS used this hubcap, too, but had black paint instead of silver.

Couldn't find a '68 Acadian SS photo with these hubcaps. Very few built, probably in the low hundreds and very few still around. Most changed out these uninspiring SS wheel covers for after market or even the dog dish caps. Still using artist concepts for the showroom brochure in '68, so not easy to get detail. Picture below is from the brochure showing a '68 Acadian SS with what appears to be the SS hubcaps.

welcome to the nova site. an your wheel cap is a rare cap it looks to be. i enjoy seeing the old caps as most are a work of art. alot of the older caps look way better than some of these new style after market wheels.

Oh man! I'm tickled pink..... Yes, that appears to be them. Thank you Bob and others for your effort.
its small wonder I couldn't google a match, like Bob stated, he couldn't find a car pic but found them on a brochere
Great that I managed to save 4 hubcaps from extinction but is there even a 68 acadian s.s. that exists. By the sounds of it, there was only 200 ish
That were built. Is this a true statement I've just made?. The least I should do is bring the box of hubcaps in from the cold, store them on a shelf in my basement. All 4 are in what I would say, hummmm .....an 8.5 out of 10...maybe even a 9 ....no rock dings on them or major scratches.
......or do these belong in a safe?. I know when it comes to value it really boils down to what someone is willing to pay for them if in fact they are that rare.
This totally explains why the Camero guy at the car show asked for my # and has called me about every 3 yrs. Inquiring if I still have the "ss caps" and "are you ready to sell them"

...or do these belong in a safe?. i don't know if i would put them in a safe but if your keeping them caps i'd look into these kind of bags. i bought a set of 66 nova SS caps from a guy an each cap was stored in a VCI bag. for 57 year old caps they looked like they had just been made at the factory. here is a link for some bags.

I'd really like to see them go onto a car that deserves them. If in fact they are that rare a car and hubcap I may never find an acadian ss that needs them lol
This is true. In my 30+ years in the classic car hobby, I don't think I've ever seen a stock 1968 Acadian Super Sport. The few non SS 68s I've seen have been
modified, including the wheels. 1968 was the first year that Acadians were built in the U.S.A. and first year they received the Super Sport designation. Generally,
Canadians were not happy this Canadian born car was being built outside the country and poor sales reflected that. Beginning in '68, the Acadian became more like
a Nova every year and when it was phased out forever at the end of 1971, only the name badging was different.

I think there's almost zero market for these wheel covers in the very small 1968 Acadian SS community, but there are some very serious Acadian lovers out there who might want one as
a souvenir of a by-gone era.

It's all so very interesting ,this history. I wonder, would some of these cars have been left in usa where they were built? It's a similar story to the chevelle/beaumont but the acadian/nova story is much more rare. I'm going to look at the barret Jackson listing, see if an acadian ss comes up...or even past listing.im on a mission now lol

All of the Acadians built in the U.S. from 1968-1971 were exported for new sale in Canada. Acadians were never sold new in the U.S.
