no you can't use that wire:no: It will work but you won't be getting full voltage to the hei and the car won't run to it's full potential. get a keyed hot wire off of the fuse block

HEI rewire notes for a 66, most GM cars are similar.

Run a 12 AWG wire from the IGN terminal on the fuse block, to the HEI.
