Since I'm Still New to The 68-74 Gen. with our 72 Rally Nova we of course are going to run HEI Ignition....now for my question....

Is there a Clearance problem with using the older Coil in Cap HEI or should I go with the Newer style ext Coil smaller diameter HEI....I have both (a PerTronix Flame Thrower-old style coil in cap and a new style - Mallory Comp SS) .....the PerTronix Older style looks like I might have some firewall clearance problems as in really close .... and jfyi I am using Solid Motor, Gear Box and Body mounts and the stock engine placement and I will be running at one time or another...(depending on when this summer I get the SBC done).... both a Big and Small Block.
Thanks in advance.
Randy.

The odds are 50/50 that it will work. The cars a have a sloppy tolerance in that area. My 68 is tight with a normal distributer and there is no way an HEI would fit. Others have them drop in and others only require a small dent to get them to fit. Thats with solid mounts and a BBC with SBC frame mounts.

i would encourage you to try, without a hammer. a lot of these will fit. it may be tight to the fire wall and the air cleaner. but try it with a lot of patience and see if it will fit. best of luck!
