I just installed my first set of headers on a street car, (Dynatech long tubes on my 73 hatchback). The first problem was sagging motor mounts that let the passenger side header contact the motor mount where it bolts onto the frame. I replaced the motor mount inserts with Energy Suspension poly units and it fixed the interference beautifully.

The question I have is; How much clearance do I have to have between the "clam shell" that bolts onto the engine and the header (driver's side). I have plenty of clearance around the steering gearbox, shifter linkage, etc. but only about 1/16" to 1/8" clearance from the clam shell to the #1 cylinder header tube. Being they are both bolted directly to the engine, will that be enough clearance?
