On my 69 I currently have headers that the collector just butts up to the exhause pipe instead of the ball and socket flange. It seems that they are leaking all the time so I would like to change over to the ball flange. Is my only option to buy the kit that I think flowmaster sells for around $80 or is there a lower cost alternative? Thanks.

I have the Flex steel braided extensions, about 18" Long

Very nice setup, allows for a bit of flex

Ill never go without them again

$80 isn't low cost?...it does what you are asking for. No, it's not your only option but for $80 it sounds like a pretty good one to me unless you fab something up yourself and probably have that much and more in materials and time. Some factory exhaust components use the same concept but you would have to do some searching to find something that would work for your application. Check around your local exhaust shops and they could probably come up with something but I'm guessing it's going to be way more than $80 by the time you get out the door.
