I'd like to rebuild my wiper linkage so that it works like new. Has anyone taken a shot at this? On mine, there was some kind of plastic tape or wrap right under the wiper studs, that I am particularly wondering about. Was this factory?

Okay, it looks like no one has done this. I'll post some pics when I get to it.

Im not done yet & it wont be stock .The plastic on the ends is stock.
Im think of using Heat Shrink Tubing on mine .

I did for my 66, replated the pivits zinc & painted the linkage bare steel. I used large heat shrink to replace the plastic on the pivots, worked great & looks original.

The heat shrink also works great for making the black plastic where the antenna mast screws in look like new, mine had marks from pliers or vise grips.

Thanks to both of you for the heat shrink idea, that didn't even occur to me. al, did you make new rubber gaskets, and if so, where do you get the gasket material?
