They claim to give you better gas mileage and more power. I was thinking of getting one for my daily driver (my s10 pickup) but I wanted to know if they really work?

Hocus Pocus

I just saw a report on all types of fuel saving devices on the market and according to the report none of them save fuel. I believe it might have been a consumer reports summation. Again who is to say that the study might have been done by the gas manufacturers. They sure as h_ _ _ _ do not want you to know if there is anything out there to save you gas! Oh! and yes the toranado was tested.

A buddy of mine ( that I did not hear from for a few years) called a while back trying to sell a magic pill you drop in your tank. They are suppose to increase fuel milage, lower emmissions, increase power, etc. etc. No it was not called viagra. Did you see anything like that tested ?

if they worked, the gas companies would have bought up the patent and put them in a closet, shut the door and thrown the key away.
they do get cash flowing in the GNP!

I have a friend who is a firefighter and all the guys at his station were buying them and claiming they worked great--I asked if any of them had done any back to back testing with and without?......NO! Did any of them actually check their gas mileage?....NO! But they said they worked!! DOH!
I might be able to believe something happening in a round air cleaner on a carb, but the ones that install in the EFI applications that are 3 feet away....Yeah right!! By the time the air has gone around a half dozen corners and thru baffles and such.............Yikes, some people will buy anything.

If you watch myth busters you will see these different types of supposed fuel savers all the time. I know I recently watched them do the acetone and fuel magnet mileage myths. The magnet did absolutely nothing to the mileage and the acetone actually made the fuel mileage worse so go figure.

Think of it in terms of airflow. The more airflow you can get, the more power you can make. Although it claims to make a vortech in the incoming air, the unit is so large and takes up more space it can't flow enough air. It is like sticking a restrictor in your intake tube. I was at the speedshop about a year ago, some kid had his import towed in due to the fact it wouldn't run, wouldn't idle, etc. When the took the intake tube apart, he had installed 2 of them back to back. Restricted all the intake air.
