I have a problem!! I have a bought a TH350 and had it totally rebuilt. Come to find out it is long tail shaft model. I am tring to put it in a 67 coupe. Can anyone tell me if I can make this work. Just by shorting the drive shaft or what do i need to do. I have already paid to have it rebuilt so it is to late to just give up.

Shortening your driveshaft would fix the problem. The only other option would be to put a different (shorter) tailshaft on the TH350. I hear this can be done with the trans mounted in the car.

To change the tailshaft housing you have to also change the output shaft, which would necesitate a nearly complete teardown. I can't answer about the clearance issue. You may have to put it in and find out.

You can use the long TH350 with a stock Vega driveshaft, which is 3" shorter than the Nova shaft. You can also use the driveshaft from a 70-81 Cambird, but the rear u-joint will need to be changed.
