Why do gassers have the shackles in the front, instead of the rear of the front leafs?

Actually Taz, they were and are installed in either direction. Some prefer shackles in front, while others mount them in the back. Personally, I prefer shackles to the front. When you see them peeking out under the bumper, it reeks gasser madness!!!! But there is alot of old pictures(read historical precedence) that show the shackles in both locations. No right, no wrong. Just whatever you prefer!!
