I need to replace the fuel pump on the 350. Can anyone offer any tips to make the job a little easier? I have heard there is a rod that can be a little tricky if you don't know what you are doing (something about removing a bolt around the timing chain cover to hold it in place? )

Can someone guide me through the process of replacing it?

Thanks
Dan

Here's the process:
Rotate engine to TDC. this is the low spot on the cam where the rod is all the way up.
Remove short bolt and install a longer one finger tight to hold the rod. Don't over tighten!
Remove fuel pump hose(s) or fuel lines.
Remove fuel pump
Scrape off old gasket but carefull not to get any inside hole.
Install new gasket and fuel pump
Make sure the rod hasn't slipped. The lever fits under rod.
reinstall lines and REMOVE the long bolt and replace with short one.

by the way "the bolt" is on the front of your engine in line with the fuel pump rod :D just incase you were wondering what bolt he was talking about..

On a side note.. i learned the hard way what this mystery hole was for when i constantly had a bad oil leak and kept thinking it was my timing cover or fuel pump area leaking! DOH!
