As close to the carb as possible. If you have a double pumper they make feed lines with them and a gauge built in. My car came with it already on the inner fender so that's where it lives.

If you plan on racing the car at a track you can't have it on the firewall. Most people mount them on the fender across from the carb.

There are several companies offering bracket and line kits like this. They make for a clean install.

I made my own solution on placing the holley regulator, and if Ur confused about the line routing Ive made this to be a fuel return regulator.

I take in fuel from the moroso cool can straight in to the left on the regulator going right thru to the carb, when it reaches 6-7 psi pressure it dumps fuel right down the former "feeding line" and back to the tank..

Here is the inlet and outlet placed, and yes if U wonder Ive also made a wheelwell for the frontend to get rid of gravel/sludge at the fender corners.
