I am swapping a v8 into my '63. I swapped the oil pump and have it bolted on to the engine. I am trying to install the oil pick up tube. The tube seems to be to large for the oil pump. Has one installed a v8 swap kit and had trouble with the oil pump and the front pick up?

Press Fit

There are tools that encircle the pick-up tube and allow you to drive the pick-up tube into the pump. Before I bought the tool I made one by slicing a piece of 1" galvanized pipe horizontally for a couple of inches, and then cut it vertically to the horizontal cut line, to create a half-circle of galvanized pipe which can encircle the pick-up tube and drive it into the pump.
Following that comes a quick tack weld of the pick-up to the pump with an arc welder.

On my last build I had the opposite problem. Apparently there are 2 different pick up tube sizes, and corresponding pumps. I had to order a new pump to work with my new pickup.

Yes, even if it's the right size, it's a press fit.

Good luck.
