Flowmaster 17104 tranverse exhaust volume

I've heard various accounts on the volume of this system. I have a little one on the way and don't want the system to be too loud to her ears. I've had dual 40 series Flows before and the drone at constant speed could be deafening. Some have said this transverse setup is quieter unless you really open it up. Other have said its really loud. The car in question has a tame Goodwrench 350.

Do you have an h pipe installed? RICK
i bought the flowmaster american thunder system that had that type of muffler and it was way too loud for me. i know you listed the number i didnt know it by number just the name. i took it off after about 25 miles and could not even give it away free. had to scrap it . i went with the dynomax mufflers , and am finnally happy with the sound..
This American Thunder exhaust system is the loudest in the Flowmaster Exhaust System Line-up. This American Thunder exhaust system has been individually engineered and dyno tested with the latest in technology. Through this technology you will experience improvements in acceleration, passing power, and fuel mileage. The key to the system’s performance improvements is through the use of mandrel-bent tubing that allows for superior exhaust gas flow. Aluminized steel tubing has been used for its corrosion resistance so your system will last. The American Thunder system comes with a two-chamber muffler that will give you plenty of aggressive Flowmaster sound outside the vehicle as well as inside it. Every kit comes complete with all necessary hangers, clamps, and mounting hardware for an easy installation. i cut and pasted this from a web site selling this system so as you can see its loud...

I have not tried the transverse Flowmaster for the Novas, but I have had a couple of these on F-bodies. IMO, they are not quite as loud as traditional/original 40 series mufflers....but close.

I actually did the opposite of this...haha. The Nova had dual Dynomax mufflers on it when I bought the car, and they were way too quiet for me. I scrapped them in favor of Flowmaster, and it sounds perfect to me now. The Dynomax would have been nice for a daily driver that gets fired up every morning at 6am, but for a weekend car they just didn't cut it for me. It's funny how subjective our opinions can be on sound. :)
