im planning on getting a custom exhaust next week on my 72.. i want to know where the best location to mount the rear tips would be..should i run them straight back or behind the rear tires..pictures would be great..thanks guys

Mine is just behind the rear tires as well.

Mine are just behind the rear tires also, but they are cut even with the rear quarter panels so you can't see them

I have to agree with the others, I had mine out the back with Chevelle tips but, I like the just behind the rear wheel much better...
This is a 3 inch system below

thanks alot guys...i was leaning toward the side exhaust myself cause i never really see them come out the back

you can barely see it in the pic but the tip comes down behind the tire but cut level with the body line.

Also note: the exhaust is 2.5" with crossover tube to turbo mufflers and 2.25" tail pipes. Note how you can't see the exhaust. The lowest point is the header collector flanges that I had cut and rewelded so they wouldn't scrape.
