Have you compared it with your VIN. X = Nova, 8 = 1978, W = Willow Run, followed by the 6-digit VIN production number.

Do you know happen to know what the SEO IB4 is? That’s the clencher for me.

Not all these things can be decoded. May describe the type of transmission the engine can be mated to, 2 or 4 bbl carb, type of emissions equipment, etc.
