Can you shim connecting rod bearings? My 258 in my CJ-7 is knocking. I rolled new bearings in, the crank was in perfect condition. I checked bearing clearances and one is a little too much but not enough to get oversize bearings. Thanks!

you can do anything ONCE....

you can shim anything.....IS it advisable? does any one make bearing shims? if so where would you put it? most time when a line hone or a re-sized rod is needed.... the bearing bores are out of round........

ya cant shim... with out effecting the crush or creating flat spots...


Bite the bullet.. and do it right...

That's what I thought....we do it on large low-speed diesel engines so I fiured I would ask.
