The barrel nuts work but they're kind of bogus. For one thing, you end-up drilling holes that are larger than they are supposed to be to fit the hut in. Not an easily reversable thing if you ever decide to do it right. I didn't have to pull my fenders all the way off to install new emblems on mine. I just unbolted the lower bolts and loosened the top bolts and was able to get at the nuts by lifting the fender up.

Go to an auto body repair supply house and buy some emblem tape, its thin and double sided very sticky and waterproof. This stuff is used on most new cars as none of the emblems these days are bolted to the body.

Can you get to the 6 cylinder emblems on the lower front fender by removing the kick panel? Have one broken and need to replace. Don't mean to hijack but thought this might apply.
Thanks
Nope, that wont work.

I am assuming you are referring to the NOVA scripts on your front fenders?

Ya, those are a real ----- to get to with the fenders on the car- I've done it however.

Used a 1/4 inch drive rachet/socket, a closed end wrench, and plenty of patience the night I brought home my brand new 74 (March , 1974)
I swapped out the NOVA scripts for the 73 style SS emblems, trying to cover the old scripts holes the best I could. Took me a long time on a cold night.
