I am working on a buddys car (69 camaro) that has an electronic ingition upgrade of unknown brand....but it is currently using the stock resistor wire, the wire is corroded and needs replaced and i feel that no self respecting electronic ingition should get less than 12V but i have a feeling they may also have designed it to work with the existing resisted setup....anyone got any input for me

I don't know of any that are designed to work on 9 volts. You may have less with a corroded wire. You also need the starter ignition wire so you have power while the starter is cranking. Otherwise the ignition doesn't get power until you let off the starter.

The resistor wire runs from the firewall junction box to the coil (IE: HEI)

Change the wire to a none resistor.
