Whats the best way to remove the E brake cable from the drum brakes and then get that "expanding" mount out of the hole where it goes through the backing plate?

I have a piece of tubing, I have had it for years. I slide the tubing over the one way lock, collapsing the lock and releasing the cable.

If your deleting your e-brake, remove the cross bar and swing arm on the shoes.

A fuel line sized hose clamp work well also.Put it on and tighten it and then pull out the cable.

Wow

thats what happens when you get caught up trying to do this stuff. Hose clamp makes perfect sense. Thanks

I have also used a open end 9/16 wrench the boxed end of it over and a solid pull...POP but the hose clamp always works !

There are pliers made to unlock them. Since I dont use them often I picked up a cheapy set at Harbor Freight.

A fuel line / mini clamp works the best and a little rust /nut buster lube and they wiggle out for re-use. I agree !:yes:

1/2" box wrench slides right over and compresses the barbs and it will pull out.
