the more I learn the less I like what I did. Hind sight is 20~20.

The small journal 327 crank had a press on harmonic balancer so I had the machine shop drill and tap. Now I look at the mass of the blower pulley extending off the crank. Did I weaken the crank by bolt on balancer?

NO.... you did not.... did ya double keyway it though?

as for the drilling part.... a tube is stronger than a solid....consider pushrods and the drive shaft.. espceially the drive shaft... a 3" diameter thin wall tube that transfers all the tourqe in the world to the rearend... with out breaking...... and it hollow!:D....

besides your using a bolt in the snout right? so in essences your created a solid once again....

Feel better, thanks. That 327 crank has a huge woodruff so I left it alone.
