Looking for the paint code to get some DuPont argent silver.

Should be spraying the car this weekend!

Thanks for the reply!

Went to the paint store and they were unable to find the color using DuPont code 9692.
9692 argent silver
My paint mixer was unable to cross reference this code so we got a paint chip book off the shelf. I ended up choosing a chip that was labeled "Nevada silver", and we were able to look it up in their computer. The color was available in '64, so I ended up using it. The code is DuPont 4247L. I'm not sure if it is argent silver or not, but it was close enough for me.

Just wanted to update this thread in case anyone was looking for this paint code.

This is what it ended up looking like.

Looks perfect! What's the story on your 64? Where did you find that rear die cast ? Numbers car? Original color? I'd like to see more pictures!
wow that looks like a million bucks! great job!

did you have to specify what percentage of gloss you wanted?

on a side note, what is the factory paint line on the deck lid supposed to look like on the underside?

Thank you for your compliment! :D I have a thread showing a ton of pictures in the 1st & 2nd Gen section. It shows everything from start of disassembly to today. I got lucky with the rear diecast, it came with the car. All I has to do was clean, polish and repaint it. When I got the car the engine and tranny had already been replaced. It is originally goldwood yellow, but I had to have black. My fondest memories are of my dad's black '29 for pickup. It's the reason I got into cars!

Thank you! :D

I think the original cove areas are semi-gloss single stage paint, but I'm not sure. I ended up shooting it as a base coat clear coat, so it's high gloss, but that's what I wanted.

I'm not sure what the factory paint line is on the underside of the decklid. I decided to end the silver where the decklid skin was folded onto the inner decklid structure. It was just too convenient to pass up! :D

Here is a pic of how I ended it in the trunk jamb area. As far as I know, this is pretty close to original.

I like it . I myself never did like the fact color to dull for me like maybe a primer, HA ha There again I like it done your way

Thanks for the info. If I remember correctly, the silver on the trunk was not as glossy as the rest of the car. When I bought my new ‘64 SS, it was Silver w/Red interior.
Anyone have a trunk molding?? Where can I get one?
