Last night I lost the u-joint at the rear end. I replaced it today and now I have alot of noise coming from the rearend. When I'm accelerating I don't hear the noise as much but when I coast the noise and vibration get loud. Do I need to get the shaft balanced?

Just replacing the u joint will not require rebalancing the driveshaft. You have something else wrong.

Hey Now it sounds like you need to take apart the u-joint that you put in.. It sounds like you may have a needle bearing that fell out of the u-joint cup and is preventing it from from going all the way on. Ihe needle bearing may be laying cross ways in the bottom of the cup/cap. Respectfully, "Bill's" II

If you broke the previous U-joint and the shaft banged around it may be bent.
