Anyone ever try to remove the external voltage regulator after converting to a one wire alternator? I tried yesterday and when I opened the drivers side door the horn went off! Doesn't make sense 'cause I already eliminated the 2 wires that went to the old alternator. It should just be a dead end to the circuit. I plugged the regulator back in and had no issue. Is it OK to have both internal and external voltage regulators at once?

X2 on Mad Electrical !!!

When done this way, you eliminate the regulator entirely:

Awesome, thanks. I was using MAD's diagrams of the original chevy setup. I know they encourage the 3 wire alternator but I already put in the one wire system with a serpentine belt drive already.
