Im taking apart the sleeve of my steering column of my 74 ss nova. I bought this car with it completly torn apart except the column itself. The new one i bought isnt working as smoothly as i wanted but its all there. My ignition is currently turning into ALL positions withOUT a key. When i turn the car in what would be the start position there is more restriction that i feel should be there. Plus i plan on repainting everything. I just dont want to make the same mistake i feel the people before me made. Any tips links or info would be appreciated. I want to remove the sleeve that the ignition is on and i want to do it the right way.
it can be done without the depressor tool, just FYI, just push down on it and use a screewdriver to work the snap ring off.. also here is an excellent resource for steering column rebuild..
