Bill, I have build pics - just need to load them onto Photobucket. I'll try to do that tomorrow - as I'm ready to log off now. The Quicksilver shifter is a floor mount, but I adapted the shifter plate to my console. The complete cost for the console build was less than $100. That included a gal. of Rage Gold body filler, a quart of epoxy resin and the PPG base and clear coat. I have plenty of materials left over.

Built this one last winter for our bench seat 63. The base structure is 1/4" MDF covered with a few layers of epoxy resin mixed with body filler. Then top coated with straight body filler. Painted base/clear coat.

I want to build one of these. Looks NICE!

Old thread, would like to see more pics of custom consoles for the first gen.
Hey all
Mine’s out of 1/2” MDF and some light gauge angle. The top is a rolled piece of aluminum, covered everything in vinyl. The top is split in front of the shifter before it curves and is easily removed.

I built mine out of 1/2" plywood for the frame, wrapped in vinyl, same as the rest of the interior. I made the top plates out of 1/4" 6061 aluminum plate.

OK, props to you bpb for putting an 8-track in your console (y)
Had to, that was the first thing I did to the car when I bought it in 79, same tape deck, and yes it work still.
