I have been looking at my (horrible shape ) dash trim that is specific to 65s.
To replace it the plastic repop costs about $325 plus s&h.

The price seems high but Im wondering if anyone ever cut their own pieces out of metal and had them chromed or plated? Would love to see alternatives to the plastic available.

Even Wood?

I love the idea James and i don't thing it will be all that hard to do. You have all the original dash trim? Use it as a template and trim away. I like the idea of wood but think that a thin sheet of metal would be more true to form and easier to produce. You could chrome it powdercoat it whatever. It would still be keeping the car true to form and prolly save you a few bucks!

Let us know, id love to see the progress!!

James if you have the trim why not paint it and throw a sticker in there. Here's a picture of mine.

John Piccola put all the money and parts out to have them re-popped and they look awesome.

No slight to John Picola and Im sure his looks great. But they are designed to look like brushed aluminum and plastic is soft and scratches easy.

Just thinking is all.

Yes, I'm taking mine off and am seeking a solution.
Steve yours looks good but I'm thinking heavy metal.
Who knows I might come up with something here.
Kid, I'll let you know of my progress.
