Didnt fully tighten some heater hoses and now my brand new OER black carpet is slippery with coolant. i tried soaking it up with rags and pulling up the carpet, but its still slippery. use a bissel steam cleaner?
Soak the area in Simple Green, then take it to a coin-op car wash (or your own power washer) and rinse it very well. Be sure to let the carpet dry before re-installation.
Yes... Use a suction type carpet cleaner... That's about the only way that you're going to be able to "pull" the coolant out of the weave of the carpet...:yes
Unless as 69LT1 suggests above...^ you have the carpet out of the car and can wash it entirely...
Just let a cat in there, they love the stuff!! J/K!!! Um, I would completely soak it in carpet cleaner (simple green might make it greener) and take it to the do it yourself car wash with the super sucker vacuum (unless you have a strong wet vac) and pull all the cleaner out with that. Might take a couple applications. JR
I had my heater core crap out on me in a '67 Mustang. Puked all over the place on my carpet. I used kitty litter to absoarb the coolant. Had to replace the sound deadener, just use a stiff brush to keep working it in and use a shop vac to clean in between applications. It worked for me, but you might want to consider getting new carpet.
