Hey guys and gals!
It's been a LONG time since I have posted here on Steve's.
Life has happened, marriage, 3 moves, 2 houses. Lots of stuff that just seemed to take priority.
But now, I'm off and running again.
Backstory:
I purchased this car for about $950 or so when I was 15. It was my first car and the first car I ever wrenched on.
I had swapped a big block into it and had aspirations of possibly boosting it and running into the 10's on the 1/4.
But now, married and with a baby on the way, I think I will enjoy it more as a mild cruiser.
So I pulled the big block and started working on the original 350 that had sat outside for a few years.
This engine is kind of sentimental to me, so I admit that I spent WAY too much on machine work to get it right.
It had 2 sleeves put in, bored .030 and plate honed, and align honed. Crank was ground .010/.010 and polished.
I kept the cast rods and fitted them with +6.9cc Hypereutectics flat tops from Speed Pro and a set of moly rings.
For heads, I had to ditch the stock 882s for having 11 out of 16 seats with cracks, not worth keeping.
I found a set of 186 double hums on the classifieds for $120 and took a gamble. $450 to completely rebuild them with hardened seats, valves, guides, and springs. I'm less than $600 into heads that give a "day 2 mod" look. I know I could get a lot more out of even a set of Chinese heads, but I like the vibe.
For a cam I chose a Voodoo 262/268. Gives good vacuum and isn't too obnoxious. (I swear I'm not that old)
I just fired up the engine and broke in the cam this weekend.
Body is at the shop getting the works, should be done here is about a month I believe. I can't see this car being any other color that the factory yellow I purchased it with. Although maybe not so dull and faded.
Here are a few pictures for the thread.
Having trouble uploading my video for some reason.
