Got my 74 without an engine or trans. Now that i dropped an engine and have a trans. I looking at other things like installing a floor shifter. But i can't seem to get the shifter to change gears and the key will not turn as well. I believe this car only came with one key. But i know thwres a lot things missing so now im stuck

Ok i think my wife solved my problem. We tried the key in the door and it didnt work. Im guessing this might not be the key to this car. ?

Your 1974 Nova originally used 2 different keys (see image below).

The square shaped key on the left is for the ignition switch.
The oval shaped key on the right is for all locks (doors, truck, glove box).

Ok. Then i still have the same problem. The key i have is not turning the ignition at all. Unless its locked or something im not sure. And my steering wheel looks a mess. Im missing the cover plate, spring and bearing.
