Something I've been thinking about but not quite sure of how to do is the manual tranny linkage connection...I'm going with headers so would I install them first before hooking up the pivot ball to the Zbar?? It's going to be tight..It was a bear getting the Zbar out from underneth the steering gearbox...Anyone have a good way of reinstalling the clutch linkage....I hope I don't have to remove the steering column and gear box......Thanks......Randy

I think having the header loose will helpthis will give you more room. maybe even loosen the steering box but no need to remove. it's tight but it will work! put the stud in the block after the z-bar! hope this helps

Try this order of installation.
1. Z-bar with the frame pivot mounted to the driver side of Z-bar.
2. Block pivot ball in block.
3. Snake the driver side of Z-bar up in behind Steering box. Frame mount with bolt holes downward. Leave loose.
4. Put Z-bar onto block pivot ball.
5. Now slide the frame mount into place aligning the two bolt holes in the frame.
6. Go to the drivers side fender well and bolt up the two mounting bolts.
7. Attach the clutch rod from the pedal to the Z-bar.
8. Attach the clutch rod to the Clutch fork in the bellhousing.

Finished

Hole this will help.

I'm using the Heddman Hedders 68160. I'm going to order a new Zbar..The one that I took off was welded and was all f** ed up...I'll need a new frame pivot ball also....I'm cleaning the engine compartment now so I have time....The pivot ball on the engine goes between the number 5 and number 7 exhaust port on the headers.....going to be fun....but clean when I get the grease cleaned up..........Thanks for your Input........Randy..

It's a bear no matter what:yes::yes:
Haha hell yeah it is!

Just take your time and be patient, it will work. Ive always installed and removed the z bar with the headers in place, i have the cheaper SB heddmans. REaching the frame side of the Bar and tightening the bolt is one of those "1/4 turn x a million" bolts lol

Good luck, and as always, have fun!
