The fan on my son's 68 squeaks when locking in or releasing.

I am not sure how they lock up, or when it is supposed to be locked up.

Is the squeak due to dirt or grease, or can we just lube it up to make the squeak quit? The fan looks great, and keeps the engine cool.

If your sure that it's not something else making the squeak,can try oiling,but they shouldn't squeak.Getting ready to fail!

What does it do when it fails? Just not engage, and always spin freely.
