Looking for recommendations on "cleaning" product for aluminum radiator. Also, suggestions on cleaning with the radiator not installed in the car. Radiator has very few miles but the engine had several. Doing some upgrades which didn't include changing engines but now planning on changing out with crate engine and would like to have the radiator as clean as possible with new engine.

If flushing while it is in the car is best, I could put it back in I guess as I have not pulled motor yet. Nothing like having the cart before the horse!

Take it to a rad shop to pressure check it. If you know it don't leak you could fill it with vinegar and let it sit for a day or two and flush it.

I have used CLR (calcium-lime-rust) and it worked very well. Drained the entire system and filled it back up with the CLR and water. Ran it for a day and dumped it. Flushed it a few times with water. Then refilled the system with distilled water and water wetter.
