I did try some searching, but came up empty handed,so forgive me if I missed it somewhere.
That being said,
The distributor cap is touching the firewall, so I'm thinking the motor mounts are shot, because it wasn't touching last year when I changed the cap last.
Is there a diy somewhere for changing the motor mounts?

I would put my money on the body mounts being shot. I put all new body bushings and solid motor mounts in my car and the hei fit just fine

yeah, the body mounts are shot for sure. The only reason I was also thinking motor mounts, was when I tried jacking up the subframe on the passenger side (back to where it should be) I saw little movement from the motor, meaning the cap was still touching the firewall.

I replaced the worn out mounts with new solid mounts, properly aligned the frame, and MY HEI no longer fit. I had to get a Pertronix.

Dead blow hammer works, all you need is a 1/4" and youll never notice it.
