What makes a carb "kick-up" during fwy speed. Trans drops to second on the 350TH.

You mean trans downshifts into second at highway speed? Kick down linkage adjusted to tightly?

Sounds like kickdown linkage issue maybe? If you disconnect the cable from the throttle on the carb does it still do it?

Does it kickdown into second gear when you step on the gas just a little or just while you're cruising?

No kick down linkage, it does it while cruising & sometimes around town. Could it need a heat shield ??? It is hot here in the north state, 95+. This evening things were normal & first off ramp in town it did it again, cooler 70 degrees.

Might check out the governor springs and gear and see what's up with them.

:yes: Thanks for the tips, a transmission shop is around the corner, I'll check with him Monday.
