Hi there, hope you all are well!

chevy 350 block, edlebrock peformer intake, holly 600cfm double pumper 4 barrell.

My problem is, my car had a loping idle and I always thought it was a cam. I found out later that I had a vacuum leak. The mechanic sprayed some brake fluid around the base of the carburator and it started revving up considerably. So he tuned it the best he could on short notice.

So I replaced the gasket today and the sucker wont start now. It fires for a minute and revs up, but dies right away. Also I have to keep putting flames out that come out of the top of the carb. WTF! I tightned the bolts as tight as I feel comfortable without stripping them....

I hear it's timing, but I need a few other opinions.

Anybody know??

Thanks in advance,

Kevin

Another thing is the gasket I pulled off was sort of a thick hard rubber. And the one they gave me was sort of the same thick, but not as thick and harder kind of laminated together. Is this a base gasket? The guys at autozone and napa couldn't seem to tell me whether or not I needed another thin gasket on the top and on the bottom. could this be the problem? I've seen some packs of 3 gaskets, so I'm confused.

Thanks Big Al for responding!

I have only one that I put on part # 60123FPG As shown in this list:

https://www.dmauto.com/web/dmauto/C...8++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++/10/10003/

Now I see there it says "Except HOlly Carburators" I'm mating a Edlebrock intake with a Holly carb. Do you think I got the wrong part??????

Also, you have to check yes to view the unsecure items to actuall see the pictures. I'm not sure why that is..
