Yeah that's normal. You can remove the tab for pulling the engine if you need to. The room in between those two objects has always been enough room for me. What is your timing at now?

um playing with the distributor is not a good thing!:no: Go rent a timing light at autozone and do it the right way. Ear-timing can cause some real damage. :yes::yes::yes: All you do is put a clip thing over the #1 plug wire, hook the timing light's power wires to the battery, and mark your balancer at the indent.
