A friend of mine has the same 350 block as me and the same heads. Edlebrock RPM with 170 runners and 64 cc chambers. He also wants to go with the same cam. Edlebrock 488/510 Max lift. My question is if I have the same mild cam in my motor do we still need to check his for valve clearances or is it a safe bet that with this mild of a cam he would have plenty of clearance. I can not remember how much I had when I had my installed.

depends on if his block has been decked and by how much...

generally the piston is in the hole approximately .025 which added to the thickness of the gasket .043 (thereabouts) you'd have approximately .068

if no decking, i'd think he'll be fine.
