HELP working on a 67 column. i got my rack and pinion all in. got the steering u joints and shaft in, bolted up to stock column. NOW FOR THE QUESTION. is there a bearing in the end of the column. there's all kind's of play. turning the wheel feels sloppy. up the in the air it felt fine, but on the ground was a whole another story. heidts front clip... so how do i fix this problem. i would like a flaming river tilt column. but i would like to get the car back on the road first.. if this is not enough info i have got more

The lower bearing in a 67 is in a plastic housing, and often the housing is worn. Try purchasing a column saver kit and it should eliminate your column slop.

I like a sealed bearing on the end of the column tube. Fairly easy to incorporate with all the various ID and OD sizes available with bearings. JR
