Don't want to start problems, But I have to know,How do all you west coast guys do so much together? I am in the east and very envious of the gathering you guys have, I wish the East coast guys would do more as a group. Can anybody shed some light on how to get all together for fun, I am trying with the nova show in OC Maryland, Anyway I salute all of you for what seems like a lot of fun times

It takes alot of leg work. Here in Norcal there are about 20 of us that are a very tight knit group. When ever we decide to do something we usually announce it about 4 weeks before. Then alot of pm's and phone calls. Our Norcal mini nats is gonna be the best one ever this year.Lots and lots of people passing out flyers and posting them in the speed shops. If you wanna get the East coast going get to work!It takes alot of Leg work!!Take control and make it happen!!!The first step is to pick a place!!!Good luck bm

First off SoCal is a car mecca of sorts. We have year round sun and people here love thier cars no matter if its PT cruisers or Corvettes!! The SoCal bbg is now going on its 4th year and has grown each year so you have to start somewhere. Even here we chase down owners of Nova's and put Steve's cards on windshields. There really is 2 different groups - the drag racers and the cruisers. Some are members of both groups!! The unofficial club thing seems to work and guys in different areas post up gettogethers in thier area and this has started to attract guys from out of that area. Go to Socal car culture and see how many cruise's and things are happening every month and you'll understand why there are so many active guys here. It's also cool how many project cars come along and not just trophy cars. Its not just a Nova thing cause there is usually some non Nova's with the group. Its just guys enjoying thier cars!!

The main thing is that it all takes place with baby steps. Don't expect to have a huge success in the first few gatherings.

Before the So Cal Nova's 3rd Annual BBQ, I spoke with Al (63 Pro), and he told me (I am paraphrasing here) that what it takes is for people to get together on a simple activity or event like a Monthly Fun Run (MFR) and enjoy the trip. He told me that the 1st So Cal Nova's BBQ it was 5 cats and their spouses, yet they enjoyed themselves. And also, there aren't a whole lot of rules or demands upon the folks either. If you can make great, but if you can't, then fine too. These folks get together for Donut runs, restaurant gatherings, driving out to some cool location, Movies, burgers, and sometimes car shows (Like the John Force event, for which they step forward and sponsor/host as group of Nova lovers). It would not surprise me that some day they'll show up at the hospital in support of a lucky couple welcoming their new born. That how they are.

I am sure that the same type of folks live in the east coast as well. All you need to do is to start gathering. Granted, you tend to have a true four-season weather cycle when compared to Califor.n.i.a., but you can still do it. By the time winter comes, have a function in someone's house or something (bridge, Poker, dominoes, birth-days, holidays, and so on).

It's a Calfornia thing, you wouldn't understand......well, that and the fact that if you can't make it to one, there will be another soon enough.
It just isn't a big deal--our group has no organizers per se...when we want to do something we throw it out there for anybody that wants to come...if you don't want to show, don't show.
Too many events that are planned to death become more of an ordeal than a good time.
Keeping it loose keeps the stress levels to a minimum, and allows for more fun.

You really need to hit one of the big ones!!!! The John Force , the bbq and one of the big cruises. The cool thing is how guys will hook up and wait on overpasses for the nova train to come by and hook up to it. And thats just to cruise to the event!!!!

Our MFR's (monthly fun runs) a lot of the time is just meeting at a local burger joint and having a good time just visiting and getting to know everyone on a more personal basis. We have become really good friends with everyone in our group and that makes our outings that much more fun! We started off small and over the years found more and more Nova owners and site members. The other thing is that there is prolly 50 of us within a 30 mile radius which is why the attendance is so big. The main thing isnt how many cars you have, it's the quality of the people you hang out with. We just happen to have a boat load of real quality people in our group. This is why our posts and threads project so much fun! When you surround yourself with great people, no matter what you do, how could you possibly have a bad day?:D
