I am trying to install my brake pedal (automatic trans). There is a torsion spring that raps around the pin that mounts the pedal where the brake pedal pivets. I'll call it a pedal return spring....it might have another name. Does anyone here have any good suggestions as to how I can install this spring so it holds the pedal up toward the dirver like its supossed to? I am not sure if the spring is worn out ( I think it may be) or I am doing something wrong. I cannot seem to install it so there is ANY tension on the spring. The pedal just falls toward the floorboard as it is now. The spring only has about 3 turns on it. It does not seem like I should be able to tighten it a full turn before I can install it. Note that I do not yet have the rod that connect the pedal to the master cylinder installed yet. This seems like it should be simple, but its driving me nuts.
