Ive just about abandoned the idea of putting an original floor console in my 72. Cant find any or they want a ton of money. Anyone using a B&M unimatic shifter? Should i weld a shifter hump onto floorpan? Cost is about 150.00 for shifter, boot, brackets, levers etc...

To be honest I just did this conversion in my 68. You are right in saying it is pricey. If you are gonna use an aftermarket shifter, then I would not weld the hump in. I had a B&M pro stick before changing over to the stock set up. The pro stick functioned well and was at a good height with out the hump. The only reason you would need the hump on the Auto is the stock shifters mechanisms are all rod linkage and extend down under the car through the floor.
