Hi everyone, newbie here. I have a 72 Nova SS that was in mostly original configuration when I bought it. Original owner had it until 2014 and owned a machine shop. The owner between the original and me said the first guy rebuilt the motor, but you know how that goes...It does only have 58k original miles and in very nice condition.

I am wondering if the heads are original. Can anyone tell me if they recognize the marking on the front of them? Looks like a bench seat facing left. Thank you!!

FYI, according to the casting mark and accessory holes on the front of the head, those LOOK like 993 cylinder heads. Hard to verify without pulling a rocker cover, but you deserve a better answer.

Those aren't great heads, but they aren't terrible either. Personally, if you're looking to hop up the motor, new (especially modern aluminum) heads make far better sense to sink money into. But, if those heads are healthy and tight, there may be some value left in reselling them or hanging onto them.
