I bet one f those would give a BB car a run for the money. I have never saw one in real life; I friend of mine had a 68 L-79 Chevelle. He said it was as fast as any BB Chevelle he ever owned.

Does anyone know what KD1 and V48 options are?
Yes the L-79 is a beast. It will take on the big blocks. It needs a big gear, once it gets going hang on! The previous owner of my nova bragged about putting several big blocks in his rear view mirror!
The 68 L-79s are so plain looking I guess most people thought they were a normal nova with a 327. If they were worth big bucks like the yenko Deuces I am sure more would come out of the woodwork.

Jeff,Since you have the 68 l79 Nova registry and keep track of these extremely rare cars, whats your take on how many were built in 68? Would they have grouped the 68 327 L30 275HP with the 68 327 L79 325HP Novas? I really don't think they made a lot of the L79 68 Novas, they could be a very low production number, maybe like the 67 327 L79 cars? Wheres Jon Mello's 68 California Black plate L79 Nova 4speed now that I turned Jon onto. You bought it from Jon,still have it,red with black top. Koool cars! Dan

GM Canada docs indicate V48 is Engine Coolant - Increased Protection (Antifreeze). It went to Canada, eh:). Anyone know if U.S. built cars that went to states like Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, etc. also got this?
Same weather as much of Canada.

Novaresource figures show 1274 L79 Chevy IIs built in 1968. This car is extremely rare because it went to Canada and as a result has GM Canada documentation.

Yes there was 1274 68 L-79 novas. Because of there unasuming look and non SS badging they went overlooked. Maybe GM was trying to push the SS models and the big blocks.

Thanks Marlin, I really enjoy doing the registry, maybe I will have a little more time to do it now, I am getting use to the 2 nephews (13 and 14 year old boys) that came to live with me last summer.

Dan,
I sold the CA red nova to Chris Matte in the northeast, he is restoring it now.
