Anyone know of 4 spd auto shifters that fit a 70 consol?

I saw a B and M model 80692 consol mega shifter that looked like it may fit . Can't post link as I am on my mobile right now.
Thanks.

Why not keep the stock shifter and upgrade it to handle the 4 speed trans? Check out Shiftworks - they have conversion upgrades to handle OD transmissions. www.shiftworks.com

Stock looks better than anything on the aftermarket... IMO.
Thanks will look into that. I too prefer the stock look.

Will this actually make your factory shifter like a ratchet type shifter so you wont go from 1st to neutral?
that is part of my debate too. My stock TH350 shifter is pretty sloppy and would go into neutral if not careful. I value shift control and stock look, a dilemma.

Unfortunately there is no aftermarket automatic shifter that fits the stock Nova console.

No, the Shiftworks kit only allows for 4 gears. It does not make it a ratchet type shifter.

I looked at this shifter, B & M Consol Megashifter, took some measurements at the parts store. Base of mechanism is 3 3/4" wide x 8 3/4" long

With some creativity and work I think it would fit with the stock consol. The Nova consol shifter area opening is wider than the shifter assembly, which is 3 3/4" inches, but by aligning it to the left of the shifter opening and putting in a shift plate/ consol filler to the right of the shifter it could be filled. Or if the consol could be slid a wee bit to the left and still be level on the tunnel it may center the shifter, may need to get a different boot to fill the opening or be creative to fill the gaps either side of the boot. The length of the B & M base is 8 3/4", but not high profile and would fit under the consol or may have to raise the consol a bit by mouning it on some 1 - 2" risers then put the carpet over them and snug consol down. I will see what I can come up with for a design.

I highly doubt that shifter will fit inside the stock Nova console. While it may fit the length and width, the Nova console is very low and the shifter will stick out the top too much.

But hey, try and see.

I've got one of the Megashifters with full intention of putting it in my stock console. I think it is doable - I just haven't gotten a day with the stars aligned for me to get it done yet. May require a little modification like an earlier poster said - but I looked around and measured a lot - and this one looks like the best fit to me. If you do one - please pm me with the pics and how you did it!:eek::eek::eek:

Thanks for that link! I hope to install a horseshoe shifter from a Camaro into my '69 but I would like a 700R4 or 4L60 so its nice to know where to get the conversion kit

i too am going to do this mod, you have to take out the factory shifter "hump" so the megashifter will sit down far enough, and i made a shift plate the same size as the original that will bolt to the factory console and also use the megashifter shift boot as well, ive done alot of brainstorming on tbhis idea

I am in the process at this moment converting a stock shifter for a 68 Nova to a gate style pattern. Will work like a B&M Pro stick but instead a a handle to grab, it will use the existing stock button. Hold the button down from 1st to 2nd and let the button release for 2nd to 3rd. Could make it to hold the button down again for a shift from 3rd to 4th if needed. Like I said, I am currently working on this and will have to post some pics of it.
