ok so im getting ready to build a 383 stroker pretty soon, got the block already bored out and shaved with the 400 crank shaft (dont know casting number of the block by heart, but looked them up and it was HO) and i got the pistons. Im gonna use the same intake off my 350 and maybe the carb, its a 600 or 650cfm not sure? Now I just need some heads because i got some 882 heads now and you know,



So what are some good cheap/ affordable heads that would give me a decent a mount of horsepower?

and totally forgot about the cam

so im not sure but people can order customized cams? any good cams out there on the market that i can get for this motor. Im i would be happy 350-400 horsepower.

Brand new from GM L31 Vortec heads are about $600 a pair complete. You can get Dart Iron Eagles for about $900 a pair complete.

Lunati's voodoo cams are really good cams. You can easily make 400hp with this cam, 10:1 compression and good heads.

For the money these heads are impossible to beat. Skip White is the seller and they are top notch and have a head guy that builds and tests these heads to make sure everything is right before they ship them (procomp had some issues for a while but these new revised heads have solved those problems). These are aluminum and lighter than vortec heads, flow better than vortec heads and are about the same price. Also the springs on them are perfect for the cam I recommended. You would have an easy 425hp engine with this cheap economical combo.

there was someone on the site a while back thinking of selling his patriot heads. they are a really good head for the money... for the cam look at voodoo cams.. excellent cams

you can find good deals on the iron dart sportsman II's or iron eagles. Just be patient. Vortecs are a excellent choice too. You also may come across some alum brodix or AFR or Dart heads too. IF this is a street/strip combo look for something in the 195-210 cc range.

I got 460 HP at 6400 to 6500 RPM's with this set up on a 383 with 9:1 compressions...

Patriot 195 CC heads, 64cc
Comp Cam 12-609-5 grind # CS 285B-6 (This is a solid cam)
1.65 rocker ratio
Brodix HVH-1000 intake and a 750 Quick Fuel Carb

If you raised the compression to 10:1 you might get 465-470HP...
