What are the differences in the 3rd gen A-pillars ? I am going through my junk for some members here and found several sets of A-pillars (the B-pillars are unfortunately what I can't find) and I cannot remember what year Novas I pulled them from. What year had the metal ones? what year has the extra screw at the top (three total) and which years only have 2 screws holding them to the car?

I know 69 are padded, I also have a set of steel ones I think they're 70 up.

I got mine from an abandon Nova in a farms field, years ago and can't remember what year it was. So many of the parts I took were all different years, like the headlight bezels were 69, and the dash had the seat belt warning light so it could have been a 72.

I like the metal ones, I may use them in my 72 if it doesn't have them allready, I can't remember what is in that car now .. the metal ones are probably alot lighter than the padded ones.

my 72 had metal ones. Here are some pics of metal ones, padded ones with 3 holes and 2 holes. the last one is a pic of the ones on my 68. I think the 68 and 69 may have used the three hole style.

I just removed a set from one of my '68's and they are padded with 3 holes.

The 68 A-pillar is unique because the dash is different and had three holes. 69 and 70 have three holes. 71 and 72 have two holes but will fit 69 and 70. 73 and 74 are different at the top because the headliner is different.

71s have metal ones with two screws too!

i think if you had the custom interior option you got the padded ones. but if you had the standard interior option, you got the metal ones.... atleast thats what i thought.....

I've never seen padded a-pillars on a 69-72, they must be from a 68 which only fit a 68 because of the dash.

My 69 has padded, they are a different shape the the padded 68 pair I had.

All 3 of my 69's each have a different level of trim and all 3 have padded A pillars.

I think the metal ones are 71 and 72. All my 68's but one have been standard interior and they always have padded pillars.

No, I believe the dash contour is different for 68.
